ADOPTABLES: Homeless Dogs’ Portraits by 4th & 5th Grade Students at Palo Alto Duveneck Elementary

* By the way, the dog in the poster (and the accompanying photo) is Bronco, the stray 10 month old puppy that inspired AdoptMeApp. AdoptMeApp was the 2nd place winner in the 2014 Palo Alto Apps Challenge. I am amazed at the impact this one homeless dog has had on our community. My wish is that all of Palo Alto’s homeless pets have as good of an outcome as he did.

This is an must-see free showing of gorgeous drawings of Palo Alto’s homeless dogs done by the students of PAUSD’s SPECTRA teacher, Lynn Hamilton. The portraits are based on photos taken by Jill Thompson, former volunteer dog photographer for Palo Alto Animal Services.

It’s worth a visit for the breathtaking artistry done under the direction provided by their teacher. The children capture the souls and longing of the homeless dogs. So beautiful. I believe making these drawings helps children develop empathy, and a love and caring for all living things.
